First Day of Pre-K for Meredith

BIG day in the life of Meredith! Very first day of school, and girlfriend was ready.
Originally, we signed her up for school to help with shyness and independence. But over the last few months she has really matured in those areas and this morning marched excitedly to class with no hesitance. She has been asking for days when I was going to take her to school and finally leave her there. Meet the Teacher upset her, she wanted to stay!
Mrs. Pam! It's a big deal in our house to get to be in her class.
And if going to school isn't good enough, her two best friends are in her class!
We are so excited about this year! Go rock preschool Meri Mae!

First Day of First Grade

First day of first grade for our Otto!
He was so excited. Like, happy to wake up early, waiting for me at the door, and didn't even want to stop at the park excited. "It's okay that we're early, Mom, I probably just need to get to class."
His new excited face cracks me up. And if you can't read the sign, he wants to be a wilderness police officer when he grows up, but only in Alaska. Favorite book is Go, Dogs, Go "but only because I can read it, not because I like it.". His favorite activities are bike riding and tree climbing,  "But I also like to sleep sometimes and play the iPad. Because it's nice to be lazy too."

And his still sleepy siblings, pulled out of bed and tossed in the stroller with some Cheerios.
And Chris started his second year of his PhD, first day on Baylor's campus for the semester:)
Here's to a great year!

Dinner at the Park

We had dinner at the park tonight with the Thomas' family. It was supposed to be a MOPS event, but we were the only ones to show up so it turned into a bestie hangout-ha!
Grilled hotdogs, chips, and sodas all around!

Always fun to hang out with these little people.
Sarah dressed herself today, as Elmo. I think she nailed it.

Hope's Birthday

My cousin's little girl turned one today and she invited us to her adorable flamingo themed swimming party.
Hope is the cutest baby.
So sweet and basically Ned's equivalent in personality. So happy and wasn't phased at all with his rather intense kissing and hugging style, she just returned the sentiment with equal enthusiasm.
Thank you for having us Hope, happy birthday!

4th of July

We had a little fun this past weekend. Nana and Addy came to visit, and while Daddy talked Nana into slaving in the hot sun to replace the shop roof, the kids and I had fun running in the sprinklers and eating treats. We are so glad we got to see them!
On the fourth, we took a spontaneous family trip to Waco. The kids love seeing where Daddy goes to school.
We spent a few hours exploring the Mayborn Museum. I think the water room was our favorite, giant bubbles!
 My favorite people!
For dinner we stopped at a biker bar on the river. Totally kid appropriate, but the closest we could get to the water. Otto and Meri saved their bread to feed to the ducks, and it got a little scary when they ran out but the ducks were still hungry!
And on our scenic drive home we found a firework stand. Sparklers and smoke bombs!
And a few of my people, because you can never have enough pictures.
Ned and his bestie!
I hope these two are always the best of friends.
Sweetest baby. He got two new teeth in the past few days, upper laterals, and only had minimal complaints.
Happy Fourth!

Ada and Alice

While we were in East Texas, Ned and I snuck away for an afternoon with Abbey to meet the twins. How lucky are we, not only do we get twin nieces, but they are identical!
Ada and Alice!
Ned was so in love. So many kisses and possible germs shared, but babies!
It's going to be so much fun to watch these girls grow up, their Dad is going to be in so much trouble. Best of luck, Sam!

Camp Invention

Otto participated in his first summer camp this week! Camp Invention, all about creating and repurposing, with an emphasis on destruction, perfect for our guy.

First day, lunch and his broken DVD player. So excited!

And on the last day at the creation showcase, this robot he built and the solar powered cricket were his favorites.
We so love this kid and his unique, problem solving mind.

Square Foot Gardening (Spring Edition)

This year we started a garden. SO much fun, after the initial hauling of dirt and mixing. (Shout out to Jeanne and Nicholle!). Surprisingly, we actually grew things!

Our first produce, sugar snap peas. (Dork Lydia was pretty much skipping around the yard at this point, how cool is growing stuff??!)
Our first carrot! Audrey from across the greenbelt was with us for most of our gardening adventures, she's a sweet helper.
Thanks to a really wet spring, the spur of the moment potatoes that we planted really did well. Our best performer by far, a definite repeat for next year.
Tiny strawberries.
Look at that monster!
Our five by ten bed really produced a lot. Much cheaper than therapy too.
My favorite, cucumbers.
Take that back, I also really like zucchini.
Chris surprised us one night and brought home berry bushes....fingers crossed they thrive.
Looking forward to next year!

Ned's First Haircut

Sweet Neddy is growing a mullet. Seriously business in the front party in the back.
So today we headed out for a haircut.
Because, just LOOK at that mess. With a rainy day with lots of conditioner, he can pull it off, but it was time.
Everyone trooped along to watch, Mrs Danielle was a great sport about it.
And she had a draw full of bribes.  Two lollipops later, she had tamed it significantly. Hopefully it will hold him over for a few months until he can learn to sit still.
And Otto got a trim too! Blue tips!
Post haircut picture, the best we got.
