Meredith is TWO! (East Texas Gators)

Meredith's birthday fell on a Thursday this year. The kids and I were in Lindale for an overnight trip, as Chris was in Orlando for the week with work.  We gave Meri the choice between going to the Caldwell Zoo, or East Texas Gators…and what did she choose? To the Gator farm we went with Minky and Michael!

Being a related to me, she wasn't keen on touching the reptiles.

Otto, however, wanted to hold everything. How gross is this King snake? So, so gross.
And an albino python…no sweat, hand it over. You better believe I was panicking over this…last week someone ran over a rattle snake in our neighborhood, I don't want Otto comfortable with picking up any snake he sees.
The chinchillas and this rabbit Meri loved. Soft and cuddly just like our sweet girl!
Minky has great ideas, there was so much to see and do! And she brought a picnic lunch complete with cake!
Meri had Uncle Michael light the candles twice, she was so impressed by the fire.
And Otto was impressed that Uncle Michael ATE alligator! He wouldn't try it himself, but keeps mentioning it to me weeks after.
Feeding the geese the lunch leftovers!
A house just her size! And an entire playground full of pebbles, thrilling!
They even had a bounce house, good day in Meri's book.
There are 54 alligators, most quite large, that live at East Texas Gators. All but one were 'nuisances', and caught in the surrounding areas lakes and ponds.
Walter, left side of the below photo, is the one alligator that was donated to the center. He is 52, and was hatched from an egg by a wildlife biologist who lived in Marshall. For the first 48 years of his life, Walter lived in a pond in the biologist's back yard. Not my idea of a cuddly pet for sure, but to each his own.

Otto insisted that Meri NEEDED a Dora the Explorer party this year, so we're going to count this as a trip to Crocodile Lake, okay? Stay tuned for our celebration when Chris got home!
