New Mattress

Don't laugh. Yes, I'm blogging about a new mattress but trust me, it's a big, and much needed, event around here.

Here's a picture to prove it. And yes, the crater is on my side...first a rocking chair and now a mattress, what will I take down next?
Otto is in heaven, he thinks we ordered it just for him. :) I can only imagine what his reaction will be when we actually do get him a big boy bed.

Here's to a fantastic night of sleep tonight!

(Don't worry, we totally bought a water proof cover for it. My body is the kind of girl who would think it would be hilarious to have my water break on a brand new mattress.)

More Uncle Michael Visit Pictures

Michael went home yesterday afternoon.

We're all pretty sad about this, he was SO much help and great entertainment. Otto was disappointed last night that he couldn't tell 'Umm My' night-night at bedtime and today was a little bit of a stinker, probably because he wasn't happy that his playmate left. Tonight at dinner he started beat boxing, definitely something he picked up from his uncle. I thought it was strange to have leftovers...might take us a while to adjust.

A few days ago we went to a local park to wear Otto out before nap time and exercise the pregnant beast. Otto was pumped about getting to explore with Uncle Michael.

This is the resulting picture when using a 50mm lens for a sorority girl shot while pushing a stroller. Up close and personal.
Otto is a pretty fearless kid when it comes to risky things, so it didn't surprise me when he wanted to try every piece of playground equipment. Michael was a doll and followed him around so I could take pictures.
They went down the tallest slide together.
The second time up he decided that he would do it by himself and took off before Michael could catch him! Thankfully he didn't launch off the end of the slide because I wasn't close enough to stop him if he had. *new gray hair sprouts* He LOVED it.
For the record, this is the slide. My 20 month old is a thrill seeker:-\
Michael rode the train home. It was delayed, so while we waited the guys explored the train station and tried to catch pigeons.
A sweet employee gave Otto a conductors hat and a coloring book all about trains. Otto was pretty impressed with the activity of trains coming and going. The loud noises didn't bother him at all but Baby Dos didn't like it at all. She kept startling when a train would pull into the station.
Otto was a total ham and introduced himself to just about everyone waiting for the train to arrive. He's such an outgoing kid.

We're so glad that you got to visit Michael! Come back anytime!

Lydia the Pregnant Lady {Thirty-five Weeks}

35 weeks and only 35 days to go at this point! (Until her due date--give or take, oh, ten days.) Woohoo! And you better believe I'm excited about this, some symptoms of pregnancy aren't so great...the crazy pregnant lady hormones have shown up and psycho Lydia is in the house. Pretty sure my guys are running scared;)

The Highlights:

How far along: 35 weeks!
How big is baby: 18 inches and over five pounds. From my guessing she's large. Last night she wedged herself under my rib cage and it was so uncomfortable it woke me up.
Weight gain/loss: Still claiming 35 pounds although I have a sinking suspicion its more than that...want to know the real reason pregnant girls waddle? They don't like the feeling of their thighs rubbing together.
Maternity clothes: I've outgrown Old Navy and Motherhood's styles. I found another extra long undershirt at Ross this week which is fantastic, keeps the belly from catching a draft with loose style shirts. It also helps hold the belly button down, double bonus!
Stretch marks: Still nothing new, I'm shocked.
Sleep: Eh. Goodish. Otto has slept the full night in his bed for the last two nights and surprisingly I slept worse. Chris and I both felt like someone was missing. I see a large family bed in our future.
Best Moment of the Week: Making major progress on her dresser! It's a huge project on the todo list and Michael really helped me get it done. Now Chris just needs to re-stain it and I can cross it off completely!
Movement: More shifting and pressure than actual movement. She's running out of space!
Symptoms: Heartburn, how I've missed you. NOT. Hormones have also been whack this week, several days had me wanting to punch something for no reason. The poor guys have been very patient with me for sure.
Food Cravings: I've been living with a 16 year old boy for the last week and a half, I'm a little fooded (new word!) out. That guy can eat! He's kinda like a newborn in that respect, every two hours It's impressive really.
Gender: Girl!
Labor Signs: A couple of more serious Braxton hicks this week. One woke me in the middle of the night from all the pressure (no pain), made me realize that death by boa constrictor would not be the way to go.
Belly button in or out: Out and so is about a half inch of the perimeter. Gorgeous I tell you.
What I am Looking Forward too: Not labor for sure, but definitely meeting this girl and (selfishly) not being pregnant anymore.
Daddy: Told me the belly was impressive today. Dang skippy it is, there's a pretty awesome little person is there! He has promised to help calm my crazies this weekend and work on the (self professed ridiculous) todo list that I've come up with...he doesn't panic about all that needs to be done--I do enough of it for the both of us.
Otto: Took one look at my stomach this morning and said, 'Ball!'. It was strangely flattering, balls are his favorite toy. He turned 20 months this week (Sunday) and has taken off with his verbal communication. Michael wants it stated for the record that he taught him 'Dude' and 'Buddy'. Otto is also currently sporting two skinned knees, acquired at different times, thanks to the warm weather and shorts that we have been wearing. I hadn't realized how protective his blue jeans were:(
Uncle Michael: Probably scarred for life. He told me that I haven't been acting too crazy, but I'm sure he's a little terrified of pregnant girls now.  He has put up with me beautifully though and was so much help, he did dishes and vacuumed pretty much every day! In ten years he's going to be quite the catch:)
Pen marks on my arm courtesy of my favorite one year old.

Haircuts for Everyone!

The guys had a group date to the barber shop this afternoon.

And after!
Otto is concentrating on that lollipop!
 And a few during:)
My, Dos and I are getting positively square. I think we've reached that wonderful stage of pregnancy that brings 'beached whale' to people's minds when they see you coming. Woohoo. But don't the guys look nice?

We took a walk after dinner and Otto walked the entire time! Almost a mile and we didn't even bring the stroller; he's getting to be such a big boy!

Otto LOVES Uncle Michael

Otto loves his 'Umm My'. Like seriously, big fat puffy hearts him. And with good reason, only an Uncle would go to bat for you and talk your mother into letting you play in the mud.
Michael kindly offered to give Otto his bath tonight if  I'd let him get good and dirty first. Otto was THRILLED.
Have I mentioned that our backyard has a drainage issue? (Much better after the installation of the drain, but it rained yesterday and hasn't had time to dry out yet.)
Homeskillet even dug up an earthworm while playing, he thought it was fantastic. And Uncle Michael was true to his word and did all the clean-up:)

Lydia the Pregnant Lady {Thirty-four Weeks}

The Highlights:

How far along: 34 weeks. Six weeks (!) from her due date, or seven and a half from when her brother made his debut...any guesses on when she will make an appearance?
How big is babyAbout the size of a cantaloupe although she looks more like a watermelon tucked under my shirt.
Weight gain/loss: 35 pounds up. Depressing, I tell you. I know it has to happen and it is for a very good cause, but ugh, it's no fun.
Maternity clothes: This week has been all about the pajama pants and baggy t-shirts. We've got mucous and slime coming from everywhere, so it's been comfy clothes all the way.
Stretch marks: Still avoiding any new ones but there are a few areas that are starting to look suspicious...I give them two weeks.
Sleep: This week has made me realize that it could be much worse. Waking up to roll over? Get over it Lydia...sleeping propped up right with a cold and a toddler on your face is much more difficult. Doable, but difficult.
Best Moment of the Week: Michael time!
Movement: She's all up in my business. You can tell that her space is shrinking, her movements are smaller but make my entire belly shake.
Symptoms: No real swelling this week! Yay! The belly is getting crazy big though and people have started treating me with kid gloves...if they only knew this little girl isn't going to come flying out anytime soon. This week a cashier had me cut in line so we could check out, not really sure why...but I guess I look like I'm about to pop? Won't she be surprised when I'm back in a few weeks and am still pregnant, freakishly pregnant.
Food Cravings: Food was food this week, no complaints!
Gender: Girl!
Labor Signs: Couple of braxton hicks.
Belly button in or out: Had a talk with my doctor about it this this point it's just creepy looking (Maybe that's why I'm getting preferential treatment in stores! 'That girl is crazy pregnant, but her bellybutton looks like the pull pin on a grenade, let her through!' ), but after she gets here the only option for fixing the hernia is surgical. Not feeling like that will happen, can you imagine having lifting restrictions with two munchkins? No thank you. It will only be a necessary thing if my intestines decide to make an escape attempt though my abdominals.
What I am Looking Forward too: Starting to really look forward to meeting this girl. The suspense on what she will look and be like is getting to me!
Daddy: Has enjoyed having Michael around too. I think he likes having someone else who enjoys a bowl of late night cereal around the house.
Otto: Has learned to give fist bumps today (so cute!), and picked up some new words as well. Umm My (Uncle Michael), eww (in reference to all the slime around the house this week), and dude. Desperately needs a haircut, hopefully he and Daddy can do that together this weekend. He has been bringing me hair ties and headbands to put in his hair..I'm pretty sure Chris will take him soon;)

No picture today, pajamas and greasy hair are never flattering.  At least I posted one belly shot this week!

Uncle Michael is Visiting!

My littlest (but almost biggest) brother is visiting this week! Michael took the train from Mineola to Fort Worth on Sunday and has been entertaining us all week.
Not only is he fun to have around, he is also super helpful. He vacuums everyday (without me asking!), has mowed the yard, and today planted fresh flowers and mulched the bed in the front yard! I had him change one (wet) diaper and help me suction Otto's nose today (we have colds, boo) just so he can add it to his resume for the future. We like having him around!

Tonight we went to a neighborhood school so Chris and Michael could practice their basketball skills (they are going to play with some of Chris' co-workers tomorrow). While they played Otto and I explored the jungle gym.
All week Otto has been laying claim to Michael's cell phone. It's a flip phone and he thinks it's awesome. This afternoon he carried it around in his pocket:)
And just for laughs. Who wants to bet that in six weeks my bump will be bigger than Chris's? (Everything else already is, eek!)

Lydia the Pregnant Lady {Thirty-three Weeks}

The Highlights:
How far along: 33 weeks. Aren't three's such pretty numbers? My favorite.
How big is babyBabyCenter says 17 inches and a little over four pounds, but if she is anywhere near Otto's size she's probably closer to five pounds by now. And trust me, I think she is...
Weight gain/loss: Didn't weigh this week!
Maternity clothes: It's getting warm here and wearing jeans everyday isn't going to work. One of my recently un-pregnant friends passed on a pair of shorts (thanks Sarah!) and I think Otto and I will go hunt down a few extra long tank tops soon.
Stretch marks: Nothing new but the belly is itchy, I know they are coming:(
Sleep: Waking up to roll over, it's a very complex process these days.
Best Moment of the Week: Flowers in the front bed blooming, so cheerful and right outside Dos' future room!
Movement: She still has room to flip, although she is head down right now and has the hiccups. I can tell it's more difficult for her now though. When she flips it feels like she is doing a K turn, lots of scooting.
Symptoms:  The swelling has really kicked in:( I had a few days over the last month with a little swelling, but this last week I can feel it in my hands and my feet by bedtime. It always starts with the ring toe of my left foot, which I broke as a kid and must have damaged a vein that hinders blood return. It's a great indicator to take a break and go lay down for a bit.
Food Cravings: Meat was not so yummy this week, but I did buy some Cabot's cheese that is delicious!
Gender: Girl!
Labor Signs: Nada this week.
Belly button in or out: Out and firm, totally skeeving even me out.
What I am Looking Forward too: The non-swollen days. Fat feet aren't sexy. And sexy is the goal while pregnant people, duh.
Daddy: Appears calm but can tell you the exact amount of time left until her due date thanks to a little program he wrote and keeps on his desktop at work. I think it's sweet that he wrote her a computer program. Dos, you're really in the club! Has a midterm for school this upcoming week and is being just a tiny bit of a firstborn about it. (Tense and preparing thoroughly)
Otto: His current favorite place in whole world is our bed. During the day we hear a lot of 'Up, peese!'. Today he, and his spatula, played there for about thirty minutes. His second favorite activity is washing dishes in the kitchen sink. Sleep is still a toss up, most nights he ends up in bed with us. I think it's partially because of spring allergies making it uncomfortable for him to sleep flat in his bed and partially because Mom and Dad's bed is cooler than mine. Chris has already mapped out how we are going to fit both kiddo's in bed with us and sadly it doesn't involve a bigger bed, pretty much calls for every other person sleeping in opposite directions. :-/

We had lunch with our Bradley baby friends today. Otto was so excited about the little babies and Sloane was the first person he requested to see when we walked in the door. I hope he's as excited when we bring our baby girl home to live with us!
All of the little munchkins are getting so big. It's a little strange that the 'big kids' play by themselves now. They had a great time!

Big girl Joss.
Joss' little sister, Liv. She is such a mover, almost crawling!
Sweet Will is a little bit in love with Liv. He kept trying to get her attention and bringing her all the best toys;) Otto loved both the babies, but kept trying to pick Sloane up. He would give her a kiss and then tell her to 'Mer!'. She was very tolerant of his attentions, she is such a calm baby. She even managed a nap with a room full of busy, busy kids.
Charlotte is going to be a big sister in August! I'm so excited for their family and totally feel like it's a boy. Can't wait to find out!
Thanks for hosting Sarah, we love getting to see everyone!

Dinner on the Patio!

Today was absolutely gorgeous, a great change from the last week of chilly, wet weather. Otto and I stopped at Lowe's this morning and refilled the propane tank so we could grill burgers for dinner. He big fat puffy hearts being outside and is so excited that there are now things to climb on the porch. The new drain is also helping with the water problem in the back yard so even though we got quite a bit on rain in the last few days the ground is only slightly soft. Hopefully in a few days Otto will have free range of the back yard.
Otto helped me make dinner and when Daddy got home we ate outside!
We had cheeseburgers with avocado, asparagus, and french fries that Otto made from scratch. He really is such a big helper in the kitchen.
Otto had leftover taco meat instead of a burger, he's still prefers meat that's easier to chew.
He is such a mess these days. Everyday he has a new facial expression--such a funny kid.

Weekend Review

We had a fun weekend, and I took pictures so it warranted a blog post:)

On Saturday morning, which was super rainy by the way, I was browsing Craigslist and saw a set of patio furniture. I generally have the worst luck and am the second or third person to call, just missing whatever item I've been searching for. But as luck would have it, this time I was the second person but the first to answer when the guy was making call backs! Chris met the man at his storage unit, in the pouring rain, and brought this home. So excited to have furniture for the back porch!
Otto was pumped to wake up from his nap today to a couch on the porch. While I was taking pictures he insisted on one of himself. He's into seeing the picture immediately:)
The night before he loved making the cushions (with water spots from the rain) into a fort. He is so fun right now, really enjoying games.

My grandparents, who live in Richardson, having been having some major health difficulties and my parents have been back and forth the last few weekends to help them. My mom came over Saturday night and spent the night with us for a little break. Otto was thrilled to see her! He must have been trying to impress her as well because he slept the entire night in his own bed. Yay buddy! He also enjoyed having someone to eat oatmeal with this morning:)

We also tried a couple of new restaurants this weekend. Saturday night Dos was needing some red meat and so we went to In and Out Burger. They've recently brought the chain to the Metroplex, and we were excited to try it. Sadly, it wasn't that great. They have the right idea, serving one thing and lots of it, but my burger tasted odd and Otto, while he enjoyed a dinner of chocolate shake and french fries, was still starving when we got home. Tonight we went to Chuy's, which also has just opened, and it was much better. Otto ate like a man and sadly so did I. I'm currently propped up in the easy chair hoping to ward off heartburn:(  But I totally recommend it if you're in the mood for Mexican food, very yummy!

Lydia the Pregnant Lady {Thirty-two Weeks}

The Highlights:
How far along: 32 weeks
How big is baby: 3.75 pounds is the Babycenter estimate. She really starting to pack on the pounds, just like her Momma.
Weight gain/loss: 30 pounds. At least by my count. My obstetrician solidified herself in the 'Lydia will love you forever' club by saying that her count only has it at twenty-six. Something about still being in the twenties makes me feel better about the fact that most of the maternity clothes (I just bought!) are getting tight. Pretty much on track to gain what I did with Otto at this point, which is totally fine...depressing, but totally fine. I need to just keep chanting 'Healthy baby is the goal, healthy baby'.
Maternity clothes: Getting snug in the shoulders (?) and warm...if my legs weren't neon white I'd break out the shorts. Might have to anyway, better invest in sunglasses to protect yourself from the glare people!
Stretch marks: I'm just waiting for the day I start sprouting more...I know it's coming.
Sleep: Co-sleeping again, Otto must be getting us warmed up for having a newborn again. And although our sleep is broken, I think a tiny part of both Chris and myself enjoys it. Otto isn't the kind of kid that likes to snuggle and all of the sudden he wants to be touching both of us at the same time? We'll take it.
Best Moment of the Week: Making a successful baby project without having to rip a seam. Seriously, my brain has been fried lately and caused me to make several silly mistakes while sewing last week. So frustrating. But today I used a new pattern to make crib sheets and it worked on the first try!
Movement: She's still getting the hiccups quite a bit and her movement it much stronger. Made me jump a few times this week:)
Symptoms: My back has realized that it's pregnant:( But other than that and the cheeseburger incident I've been feeling pretty good this past week, even my joints have been behaving.
Food Cravings: As much as I love a good cheeseburger right now, we're probably going to avoid them for awhile. Pretty sure that was the culprit for the 'almost dying in JoAnn's' event.
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: Nothing yet although a couple of muscle cramps reminded me how fun labor is going to be.
Belly button in or out: Really, really out and sore. It's obvious that something isn't quite right and if it gets bumped, wowza! Talk about sensitive. But I think the only real treatment would be to wear a darling little support belt and I'm just not that uncomfortable yet. Vanity is still in play here.
What I am Looking Forward too: Reaching the finish line...being pregnant is work!
Daddy: Busy with school, learned a new bear cub calming technique (on Jay Leno of all places) and has been practicing it on Otto. It works pretty well.
Otto: Loves to help with the dishes. This morning I found a freshly washed Weeble in the dishwasher. Also is really into helping with any kitchen activity, my desk chair is about to be banished to the garage. He uses it to help himself to anything on the counters.

A Bunch of Randoms

Chris made it home Friday just fine. He was starving though and said the hardest part was riding past all the houses that were starting their weekend with a barbeque. This week hasn't yielded a ride to work yet, the weather and a certain toddler who has decided to sleep with his parents has put a hold extra's amazing how much sleeping with an octopus takes out of you.

Speaking of Otto, he's such a cute mess right now. Still eating every five minutes, with the first word out of his mouth in the mornings being, "Oatmeal?" He has started calling Chris "Honey". Pretty darn cute. He is also into giving five (I bive!) and insists on clapping afterwards.

Sadly on Sunday afternoon he got into a fire ant nest and is now sporting bites all over his left hand. Thankfully he's having a normal reaction and his body isn't freaking out like mine would. The bites don't seem to be bothering him, which is funny because he is so into everything hurting right now. This morning he gave me five at breakfast and immediately starting cradling his hand and saying "Ow, ow!". He so strong his high fives hurt! A kiss with a little reassurance and he's fine.

I almost died yesterday in JoAnn's. Sudden onset food poisoning, I think. Much better now, but holy cow, talk about a rough cleaning of the system. Thankfully the bathroom was near and we can still shop the store, I don't know were I would be if we couldn't go back, favorite fabric store in the area. (We bought fabric to try making crib sheets!)

The consignment sale was Monday. Not a lot of things for kids Otto's size, (I think parents wise up and realize buying everything new is expensive.) but there was a lot to look through for Baby Dos. We bought some cute summer dresses, and few sleepers (being specific this time, zippers only! So much easier in the middle of the night.), and a couple of bubble suits that were just too cute to pass up. Little girl things are so pink and frilly! Chris didn't quite understand why I bought a few outfits just because they have ruffles on the bottom! But he will, just wait until he see's her wearing them:)

Chris in Spandex

How's that for a title? ;)

Guess who rode his bike to work today? Eleven miles in about an hour, that he said would have been faster if he hadn't been chased by a goose (personal nightmare for me) and taken a couple of wrong turns. The man is a beast.
He left just as it was getting light out, about 6:15. Doesn't he look WAY too excited for that early in the morning?

Very impressive Honey, Otto and I are proud of you! One, for actually enjoying physical exercise, and two, for doing it in the equivalent of a pair of Spanx with flashing lights attached;) Call us if you need a ride home!

Lydia the Pregnant Lady {Thrity-one Weeks}

The Highlights:
How far along: Thirty-one weeks. We're down to the single digits people! (Or not, hopefully this girl doesn't take after her older brother in the cooking department. Let's be on time Dos, okay?)
How big is baby: About the size of a pineapple. Strangely enough, I had an allergic reaction to pineapple this week. My tongue was swollen and my mouth itched for about four hours. No more tropical fruit for awhile. :(
Weight gain/loss: 27 pounds plus some Oreos and a bag of sour Starburst jelly beans. Next weigh-in is Monday.
Maternity clothes: As much as I love solid colored tee's, wearing them while pregnant is rough...two of the three new shirts I bought have spots on them already:( Being clumsy by nature and have a bump that sticks out don't really mesh well.
Stretch marks: Starting to glow a little. Most have faded to shiny skin and are beginning to appear transparent. My belly is beautiful. Not.
Sleep: Nap-time for Mommy has been instigated. I just can't make it past about 7:30 if I don't nap, and if I do nothing gets accomplished:( But I regretted not napping the day I went into labor with Otto, so nap-time it is! Sleep at night is pretty good, only one consistent night time bathroom trip currently. 57 million during the day though. (Actually today it was ten, plus probably two more before bedtime, so 12 total. And we have another TWO months to go! The frequency only increases from here out.)
Best Moment of the Week: Making a few little girl things! Otto has been very helpful (ha!) while the sewing machine is out, so progress was slower than it could have been but I did make her a couple of flowery burp cloths and a onesie to wear when she meets her Aunt Sarah. It has a camera on it:)
Movement: She's getting bold, tries to climb out via my ribcage. The lower right side was really sore for a couple of days this week from all the headbutts. She is getting the hiccups a couple of times a day, which is great for determining her position--she is still flipping a few times a day.
Symptoms: Starting to really feel all the extra weight I'm carrying around. By the end of the day my belly is sore from being pummeled, and my lower back and feet are done.
Food Cravings: Tomatoes are being a little nicer, and protein is a must. I'm hungry all the time, even waking up in the middle of the night starving. This is probably going to be reflected oh so beautifully on the scale next week at the doctor's.
Gender: Little girl!
Labor Signs: None so far. I did go back and read Otto's birth story...probably not the best idea, makes me nervous.
Belly button in or out: No miracle cure yet, it's still out.
What I am Looking Forward too: The consignment sale on Monday, it's going to be fun to look for girl and guy things!
Daddy: Saw the newborn sized onesie I was appliqueing and was a little shocked by the size.(Me too, they are so tiny! Otto could wear it as a hat.) Is continuing his quest to become more fit. Normally I would be 100% supportive, but not while I'm lumbering around the house looking for jelly beans and barely being able to chase Otto. Chris has a goal of riding his bike to's eleven miles one way. I can't walk more than one mile right now without my umbilical hernia getting testy.
Otto: Tried to host story-time at the library...while the librarian was reading aloud to the room. He just stood in front of her and started a conversation with the kids in the front row:-/ Needless to say, we will be skipping story-time for awhile. Still waking up at night on occasion and still is very difficult to sleep with. Learned how to say 'Mer!' (come here) today, complete an open/close hand gesture.

No picture again this week...While I did shower, today was a pajama day and no one needs to see that. Next week the size difference should be really noticeable!
